JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Pressure from both inside and outside of the House of Representatives (DPR) continues flowing to the DPR’s ethics council to impose sanction against the House Speaker Setya Novanto, a Golkar Party politician, related to the Freeport scandal.

Latest, Dec. 15, around 30 lawmakers from several factions of political parties at the DPR have urged Novanto to step down from his position.

The DPR’s ethics council is expected to read their final conclusion over Novanto case today (Dec. 16). The verdict trial, however, will be held in a closed door session from public.

In the meantime, the Attorney General Office (AGO) has speed up its investigation into the Freeport scandal allegedly involving Novanto and businessman Mohammad Reza Chalid. Latest, the AGO examined Novanto’s private secretary Medina.

Medina, according to the AGO, confirmed that she was ordered by Novanto to book a meeting room at the Ritz Carlton Hotel back in June 8, 2015, for the meeting between her boss, Reza, and Freeport Indonesia’s CEO Maroef Sjamsoeddin. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
