JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto, a Golkar Party politician, has filed another report to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim POLRI) against Metro TV, a television station owned by media mogul Surya Paloh, Chairman of Nasdem Party.

According to Novanto’s lawyer Razman Arif Nasution, Novanto reported Metro TV editor in chief Putra Nababan for defamation related to Metro TV coverage on the Freeport scandal. Said report was registered on Monday (Dec. 14) with No. LP/1392/XII/2015/Bareskrim.

Putra, meanwhile, responded Novanto’s report against him and his media with a calm manner. Novanto, according to Putra, supposedly to first use his right to answer on expressing his objection over a media report as stipulated in the Press Law No 40/1999.

Prior to this report, Novanto earlier also filed a report to the Bareskrim against Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said.

Novanto is now under the scrutiny of the DPR’s ethics council and the Attorney General Office (AGO). But he has denied all accusations made against him related to the Freeport scandal. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
