JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court has sentenced Willy Sebastian Liem, Director of PT Soegih Interjaya, to three years in jail for proven guilty in bribing Suroso Atmo Martoyo, former Pertamina’s Director for Processing, in a long-delayed bribery case implicating Innospec Ltd, a subsidiary of a Nasdaq listed company Innospec Inc.

According to panel of judges, Willy had bribed Suroso with USD190,000 in order to secure sales of tetraethyl lead (TEL), an additive used in the production of unleaded gasoline, from Innospec to Pertamina.

In addition, panel of judges also ordered Willy to pay Rp5 million of fine or serving additional three months imprisonment.

As reported earlier, Willy Sebastian Liem and Suroso Atmo Martoyo are the two suspects in this bribery scandal. KPK named both Suroso and Willy as suspects in the case back in 2011 and 2012. Both suspects, however, have just been detained in February 2015. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
