JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Association of Indonesia Retail Business Players (Aprindo) expects the retail sales of the Association to grow by 8-10% this year, lower than 13-15% growth last year.
Roy N. Mandey, chairman of Aprindo, said the slower growth of retail sales is due to declining of people purchasing power along with the economic downturn.
Last year, the retail sales reached Rp168 trillion. If the national economy to only grow by 5% this year, then the retail sales would grow by 10%, Roy said.
Roy also urged the government to rebuild the people trust after the declining purchasing power during the first half as the government’s infrastructure projects have not been realized yet.
