JAKARTA (Indonesia Today) ??? Prita Mulyasari, convict of defamation against Omni International Hospital, finally got an acquittal verdict. Supreme Court, in the judicial review, finds Prita not guilty.
Ridwan Mansyur, Public Relation of Supreme Court, revealed that the judges considered Prita???s email regarding her complaint of Omni International???s service is not a defamation. The verdict was registered under number 22 PK/Pid.Sus/2011, Kontan.co.id reported.
The judicial review was filed based on Prita???s novum (new evidences) on the case. The judges, consisted of Djoko Sarwoko, Surya Jaya, and Suhadi, also declared restoration of Prita???s right, status, and dignity.
The case started when Prita sent an e-mail to her friends complaining about Omni International Hospital???s bad service. The hospital then found the email and filed civil and criminal lawsuit against her.
District court then declared Prita not guilty in 2009. The decision, however, was overruled by Supreme Court on the cassation and dropped her six months imprisonment. In the civil case trial, Omni International Hospital also suffered loss in the Supreme Court. (indra@theindonesiatoday.com)
