JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – During his visit in Kampar, Riau, on Friday (Oct. 9), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo revealed that there’ll be assistance from six countries to help Indonesia to extinguish forest fires.

According to Jokowi, the six countries are Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Russia, Australia, and China. The assistance from those six countries, Jokowi said, is included aircraft that can carry more than 10 tons of water for water-bombing.

Jokowi, moreover, said that foreign assistance from the six countries to extinguish forest fires would be concentrated in South Sumatra, where the largest number of hot spots found so far.

As reported earlier, Jokowi is in his four-day trip in Sumatra in order to inspect the efforts to extinguish forest fires in the island.  He is scheduled to visit three provinces in Sumatra, among others, West Sumatra, Riau, and Jambi before return to the capital city of Jakarta on Sunday (Oct. 11).
