JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – People living in North Sumatra province complain over the regular electricity blackouts in a day while the government’s officials declared the blackouts have not occurred, Detik.com reported.

The blackouts reportedly remain occur in the capital city of Medan, Binjai, Asahan, and Deli Serdang.

Previously, in December 2013, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Dahlan Iskan confidently declared that the crisis of electricity in North Sumatra had ended.

Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources, through its official site, earlier also made a statement that the blackouts’ problem in North Sumatra had been well addressed.

The island of Sumatra is home for the country’s largest oil production site, main supplier of natural gas to Singapore, and exporter of thermal coal to India and China. However people living in Sumatra have suffered with blackouts since September 2013. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
