JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Media mogul Surya Paloh, chairman of Nasdem Party, has appointed Nining Indra Shaleh as acting secretary general of his party replacing Patrice Rio Capella, who has just been named as new suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Paloh announced Nining’s appointment in a press briefing on Thursday (Oct. 15) afternoon at the Nasdem’s headquarters following the KPK’s decision on naming Patrice as suspect.

Prior to join Nasdem, Nining served as secretary general of the House of Representatives for five years (2008-2013). In the 2014 legislative election, she ran as Nasdem lawmaker candidate in the West Java VIII electoral district. But she failed to get enough votes to sit at the DPR.

Patrice, as reported earlier, has been named as new suspect by the KPK in a bribery scandal related to the handling of the social assistance fund case at the High Prosecutor Office (Kejati) of North Sumatra and the Attorney General Office (AGO). The AGO is now led by HM Prasetyo, a politician from Nasdem.

The case dragged down Patrice as suspect, KPK said, is developed from the bribery case implicating famous lawyer Otto Cornelis (OC) Kaligis and Governor of North Sumatra Gatot Pujo Nugroho.  Patrice is alleged for receiving gratification. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
