JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Former Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and murder convict Antasari Azhar has filed a judicial review of Law No. 5/2010 on the amendment of Law 22/2002 on Clemency to the Constitutional Court (MK).
Antasari filed said judicial review to the MK in order to raise the chance of his request for a clemency to be granted by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. Previously, Antasari has proposed request for a clemency to the President in May 2015.
Antasari’s lawyer Boyamin Saiman explained that the judicial review on the Clemency Law is necessary needed to cancel the article in said law that stipulates the expire period of clemency’s request, which is only at very least a year after a final verdict issued by the court.
Back in Feb. 13, 2012, the Supreme Court (MA) had rejected a case review (PK) filed by Antasari. So therefore, the MA, in its final verdict, uphold previous verdict that sentenced Antasari to 18 years in prison after found guilty for murdering CEO of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran (PRB) Nasrudin Zulkarnaen.
