JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – PDI-P lawmaker Masinton Pasaribu told the press on Friday (Nov. 20) regarding the plan of lawmakers from several factions at the House of Representatives (DPR) to initiate a motion of no confidence against the Speaker of the House Setya Novanto, a politician from the Golkar Party.
The motion, according to Masinton, will be launched following the report from Minister Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said to the DPR’s ethics council regarding Novanto, who allegedly asked for shares in PT Freeport Indonesia and promised the extension of contract to the company.
“This motion also becomes a supplement for the MKD (the DPR’s ethics council) to not compromise in taking their decisions, because we all know and understand it’s a serious violation,” Masinton said, as quoted by Detik.com.
“The sanction of serious violation is a dismissal,” Masinton added.
In a related progress, the DPR’s ethics council will start to proceed Novanto’s Freeport scandal next Monday (Nov. 23). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
