JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan for questioning on Monday (Nov. 10) related to further investigation into forest area conversion bribery scandal implicating Riau Governor and Golkar Party key leader Annas Maamun.
KPK’s Head of News & Informations Priharsa Nugraha explained that KPK will question Zulkilfi in his capacity as former Minister of Forestry and as witness for Annas Maamun, one of suspects in the case.
This is the second examination for Zulkifli, a politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN). Back in June 2014, KPK questioned Zulkifli in another forest area conversion bribery scandal implicating Bogor Regent Rachmat Yasin and Sentul City Boss Kwee Cahyadi Kumala aka Swie Teng.
As reported earlier, KPK has named Annas Maamun as one of suspects in the case. Anas along with a businessman Gulat Medali Emas Manurung were caught red handed by KPK’s investigators in a bribery transaction in Cibubur, East Jakarta. KPK has also seized Rp500 million and Sin$156,000 cash money from the transaction.
According to KPK Chief Abraham Samad, KPK has charged Annas with Article 12a or Article 12b or Article 11 of the Anti-Corruption Law. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
