JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded 9 years imprisonment to former Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) and politician from Democratic Party Jero Wacik for committing grafts during his years as minister under Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) administration.

In addition, during the Thursday’s (Jan. 21) trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, the KPK’s prosecutor team also demanded panel of judges to order Jero to pay Rp300 million in fine or serving additional four months imprisonment.

The KPK’s prosecutor team, moreover, also demanded panel of judges to order the defendant to pay Rp18.7 billion of substitution to the State losses.

“My total wealth is only Rp14 billion in combined, but I’ve been ordered to pay Rp18 billion,” Jero complained over the KPK’s demand.

The KPK earlier charged Jero with Article 2 paragraph 1 or Article 3 juncto Article 18 of the Anti-Corruption Law No. 31/1999 which already amended with Law 20/2001 juncto Article 65 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

Under the ten years of SBY administration, Jero served as Minister of Culture & Tourism from October 2004 to October 2011 before serving as Minister of Energy for three years (2011-2014). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
