JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The latest survey from the research center of Kompas newspaper, the largest newspaper in the country, placed the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) in the top position among twelve contenders of next year’s elections.

According to Kompas, PDI-P’s approval rating has rocketed from 13.3% in its previous survey (December 2012) to 23.6%, a far distance over other eleven contenders.

The closest contender is Golkar Party. But Golkar’s approval rating only inched up to 16% from previous 15.4% to 16%. In the third place, Gerindra’s approval rating grew up substantially from 6.7% to 13.6%. While President SBY’s Democratic Party took fourth place with 10.1%.

Five Islamic parties (PKS, PKB, PAN, PPP, and PBB) along with the newly Nasdem Party and PKPI, meanwhile, have not reached 6% votes.

Kompas explained that the substantial growth of each PDI-P and Gerindra’s votes is supported by the explosion of approval rating from Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo (popular Jakarta Governor and PDI-P politician) and Prabowo Subianto (retired Lieutenant General and patron leader of Gerindra).
