JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Took place on Sunday (Oct. 11) at the State Palace, Jakarta, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo hold a bilateral meeting with Malaysia Prime Minister Dato Sri Najib Tun Razak.

According to Ari Dwipayana from the President’s Communication office, both President Jokowi and PM Najib agreed to initiate the establishment of a council for the countries producing palm oil.

Also present at the State Palace were Coordinating Minister for Maritime & Natural Resources Rizal Ramli, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Agricultute Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Industry Saleh Husin, and Chief of the President’s Staff office Teten Masduki.

Indonesia is now the largest palm oil producer in the world. Malaysia, meanwhile, is trailing behind as the second largest palm oil producer. In combined, the two countries controls around 85 percent of the world’s palm oil production. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
