JAKARTA (Yoseardi) – The presidential hopeful Mahfud MD, also former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, reportedly accused his contender Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo for being supported by tycoons.

“I heard that Jokowi is backed up by tycoons to win (the next presidential race) through creating good image in public. If true, however, that does not violate the laws,” Mahfud was quoted as saying by Tribunnews.com.

Mahfud said he does not mind if Jokowi really has financing supports from cukong (local term for financiers) for winning the presidential race. “Most important thing is he (Jokowi) does not use the state funds,” said Mahfud .

Mahfud has declared to run for the presidency and is tipped as among three potential presidential candidates from PKB. Another two potential candidates are former Vice President Jusuf Kalla and Dangdut singer Rhoma Irama. Unfortunately, various surveys found the rating of votes for Mahfud and PKB were low.
