JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) opened down 1.14% at 4223 this morning following regional markets.

Bank Indonesia is scheduled to decide on its benchmark BI Rate today while analysts expect BI Rate will be kept at current level of 7.5% as the monetary policy is viewed to have conrolled the current account deficit.

Among blue chip stocks, Adaro Energy declined 2.46%, Astra International lost 1.55%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia fell 2.04%, Bank Negara Indonesia declined 1.89%, Bank Mandiri lost 1.92%, and Telkom down 1.19%.

Property stocks are also in red; Alam Sutera (-1.08%), Bumi Serpong Damai (-1.46%), and Lippo Karawaci (-1.1%). Plantation shares also declined. BW Plantations fell 2.29% and London Sumatra down 1%.

While shares of plantation company PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS) was traded flat on its debut this morning. The company listed 9.52 billion shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with market capitalization of Rp6.38 trillion. It offered 1.5 billion shares to public, priced at Rp670 per share, raise total proceeds of Rp1 trillion.

Nymex’s crude oil inched down 0.04% to US$97.40 per barrel in Asian trading and gold declined 0.25% to US$1,254.10 per ounce.
