JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Different with the recommendation from the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto has suggested the General Election Commission (KPU) to postpone local elections in 7 regions having only one pair of regional leader candidates.
Setya, who is also politician from Golkar Party, said the postponement is accordance to KPU’s Regulation No. 12/2015.
Setya delivered the statements after a meeting with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, several leaders of the State high institutions, and the Head of the Bawaslu at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Wednesday (Aug. 5).
As reported earlier, the Bawaslu has suggested the KPU to extend the registration period of regional leader candidates in 7 regions in order to avoid the postponement of the elections in said regions.
