JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The central government, through the Ministry of Environmental & Forestry, will apply an appeal to challenge the recent verdict from the Palembang district court that favor PT BMH and releasing the company from all charges of allegation behind the forest fires in Sumatra.
The govt’s decision to challenge the court’s verdict has harvested appreciations from many parties, including environmental activists.
Previously, the presiding judge Parlas Nababan from the Palembang district court, in his decision, rejected the lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Environmental & Forestry against PT BMH.
PT BMH is alleged as one of hundreds of companies and individuals that responsible to forest fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
