JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The government of Indonesia plans to offer, through auction, 5 geothermal blocks this year, of total 26 blocks to be offered with total capacity of 1425 megawatts (MW).

The government prioritizes to auction 10 geothermal blocks. This year, 5 blocks to be offered are Danau Ranau (Lampung), Lawu (Central Java), Kepahiang (Bengkulu), Marana (Central Sulawesi), and Simbolon Samosir (North Sumatera) or Way Ratai (Lampung).

Indonesia has geothermal potential of 29,475.5 MW, consisting of geothermal resources of 12,283 MW and reserves of 17,192 MW. Currently, the installed capacity of geothermal reaches 1,403.5 MW located in 9 areas.
