JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The government insists to execute ten death-row drug convicts this week amidst voices of dissent from domestic and international.

The Attorney General Office (AGO) has earlier released ten death-row drug convicts to be executed this week.

They are Zainal Abidin, an Indonesian citizen; Andrew Chan, and Australian citizen; Myuran Sukumaran (Australian), Raheem Agbaje Salami(Nigerian), Silvester Obiekwe Nwaolise aka Mustofa (Nigerian), Okwudili Oyatanze (Nigerian), Serge Areski Atlaoui (France), Rodrigo Gularte (Brazilian), Martin Anderson aka Belo (Ghana), and Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso (Philippine).

All of them have been brought to Nusakambangan in Cilacap, Central Java, the location of the execution.

President Joko “Jokowi Widodo, meanwhile, is now reluctant to give any comment to the execution plan. He rejects 64 clemencies submitted by convicted drug dealers.

Back in January 2015, six convicted drug traffickers were executed by firing squads. The six were five foreign citizens and one Indonesian. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
