JAKARTA (Indonesia Today) ??? PT ACE Life Assurance (ACE Life Indonesia) has to pay Rp500 million to its customer after the Central Jakarta District Court declared the insurance company has committed breach of contract Monday (Sep 10).
Panel of the judges, chaired by Heru Susanto, stated that ACE Life has committed a default after refusing an insurance claim submitted by the plaintiff, Ivandi Setiawan. The customer has filed a claim to the insurance company after he suffered a bicycle accident on September 10th, 2010.
Based on the insurance policy, Ivandi has the right to receive Rp500 million as his right thumb should be amputated following the accident. The insurance company, however, accused Ivandi of manipulating the accident and refused to pay its obligation.
