JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The elected Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Lt. Gen. (ret) Sutiyoso plans to recruit thousands of new intelligence officers in the coming years.

The three-star retired Army general said he targets to recruit the first 1,000 new intelligence officers this years to help security officers to secure the implementation of the 2015 simultaneous regional elections.

He revealed the plan after a meeting with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the State Palace Jakarta, Thursday (July 2).

The former Governor of Jakarta, moreover, said that the BIN ideally has 5,000 intelligence officers, instead of 1,975 officers at the moment.
