Malawian Citizen Namaona Dennis Executed in Indonesia for Drug Trafficking

Indonesian authorities have confirmed that Malawian citizen Namaona Dennis has been executed in the Nusakambangan Island, Central Java half hour after the midnight on Sunday morning. Namaona Dennis is among six convicts, including one Indonesian citizen, executed by firing squad after Indonesian president denied their request for clemency. Dutch National Ang Executed, Netherland Recalls Ambassador

Indonesian authorities have executed Dutch national Ang Kim Soei Sunday (January 17) after the midnight in the Nusakambangan Island, Central Java. Her body has reportedly transported to Semarang, the capital city of Central Java for cremation. Ang Kim Soei was arrested by Jakarta Police on April 8, 2002 for operating an ecstasy pill plant producing 150,000 pills per day. The court denied his appeals to escape the death-row, while President Joko Widodo declined the request of clemency last month. The Netherland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders immediately issued a statement to condemn the decision. ‘The death sentence imposed on Mr Ang has been a recurring talking point between Dutch representatives and their Indonesian colleagues in recent years,” the Minister said. ‘The government has used all possible means – legal, diplomatic and political, at bilateral and European level – to persuade the Indonesian authorities to cancel the execution. Brazil Recalls Ambassador after Execution of Marco Archer

Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff has reportedly recalled the country’s ambassador to Indonesia for consultation following execution of Marco Archer Cordosa 30 minutes after the midnight. BBC quoted President Rousseff saying she has recalled Brazilian ambassador to Jakarta for consultations. “Relations between the two countries have been affected,” said Rousseff in a statement. Marco Archer was arrested in 2003 with 13.4 kg of cocaine hidden in his hang gilder. Tangerang District Court in Banten Province sentenced Archer to death on June 8, 2014. Nigerian Drug Courier Executed, Corpse Transported to Jakarta

Nigerian drug courier Daniel Enemuo has been executed on Nusakambangan Island, Central Java Sunday (January 17). Daniel, known as Diarrssouba, is one of six convicts executed by Indonesian authorities despite protest from international community. Daniel was convicted in 2004 under Indonesian anti-narcotics laws, which prescribe the death penalty for convicted felons.
