JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Attorney General Office (AGO) has questioned the CEO of PT Freeport Indonesia Rear Air Marshal (ret) Maroef Sjamsoeddin related to further investigation into the scandal implicating House Speaker Setya Novanto and businessman Mohammad Reza Chalid alleged of asking for Freeport’s shares and promising a favor to the company.

The AGO has questioned Maroef for twice. First, the former deputy head of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) for 2011-2014 period was questioned by the AGO on Thursday (Dec. 3) morning.

Second, Maroef was questioned again by the AGO for 1.5 hour early this morning (Dec. 4) just after finishing his examination session in the ethics council (MKD) of the House of Representatives (DPR).

The AGO has also seized Maroef’s mobile phone, wherein the original recording of conversation between Maroef, Novanto, and Reza had been saved.

In related progress, Maroef confirmed to the MKD that a copy of recording provided by Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said to the MKD, which then aired during the MKD’s trials, is same as its original in his mobile phone. He said it was his own initiative for recoding his conversation with Novanto and Reza dated June 8, 2015. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
