JAKARTA (Indonsia Today) – State-owned construction firm PT Adhi Karya Tbk (ADHI) plans to set up a consortium of state-owned enterprises (SoE) to establish a 13-kilometer monorail with a total investment of Rp 3.7 trillion, Investor Daily reported this morning.

Amrozi Hamidi, ADHI’s corporate secretary, said 70% of total investment will be funded by bank loan while the rest 30% will be funded by consortium. ADHI, with 30% ownership, will fund Rp335 billion for the project.

He said ADHI had 2 weeks ago proposed monorail project to SoE Ministry. “If our proposal was agreed this year, we will start the project next year and targets to finish in 2015,” he said.

The monorail will connect Tanah Abang, Kuningan and the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), with the capacity to carry 77,500 passengers per day.

The president director Kiswodarmawan earlier said the monorail, which consists of 16 stations, will connect to the Mass Rapid Transportation (MRT) Dukuh Atas ??? Istora Senayan route, and commuter trains at Dukuh Atas (Central Jakarta). (hans@theindonesiatoday.com)
