JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The factions of Golkar Party and PDI-P at the House of Representatives (DPR) have reportedly teamed up to propose the bill on awarding tax amnesty for companies, Detik.com reported (Oct. 7).

According to the report, the initiators of the bill is comprised of 12 Golkar lawmakers and 12 PDI-P lawmakers.

Other than those 24 Golkar and PDI-P lawmakers, 7 lawmakers from PPP and 2 lawmakers from PKB also supported the bill to be listed in the 2015-2019 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas). Previously, said bill has not been listed in the Prolegnas.

Interestingly, Vice President Jusuf Kalla earlier also revealed that the government will award tax amnesty by end of this year or early next year, to cover the Rp200 million deficit of tax revenue.

The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) together with watchdog groups like the Center for Indonesia Taxation Analysis (CITA) and the so-called Forum Pajak Berkeadilan (FPB), meanwhile, rejected the plan to award tax amnesty. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
