JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said the government now prepares to develop the high-speed train for the Jakarta-Surabaya section and train network outside Java area, instead to develop the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train (350 km/hour).
Jokowi had on Thursday refused proposals from China and Japan on the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train project as both required the State’s participation in the project.
Jokowi explained that the high-speed Jakarta-Surabaya train would have its bigger impact for the transportation system, so Jakarta-Bandung section will only utilize a medium-speed train (200-250 km/hour).
Darmin Nasution, coordinating minister for economy, said the government offers again to China and Japan, also other parties, for the said high and medium speed train projects.
