JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State-owned shipping company PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) booked net profit of Rp26.4 billion in the first half of 2015, jumped 136% from Rp11.2 billion in the same period of 2014.

In 2013, Pelni suffered loss of Rp634 billion in 2013. For this year, Pelni targets to book net profit of Rp100 billion. In past 2 years, Pelni was focusing on cost efficiency.

The government is set to inject Rp500 billion fund to Pelni for operating sea toll in the remote areas. Pelni is now awaiting the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) for taking this assignment.
