JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Took place at the State Palace on Wednesday (Aug. 12), Rano Karno, a politician from PDI-P, has been sworn in as new Governor of Banten replacing Ratu Atut Chosiyah, a graft convict and politician from Golkar Party.

Prior to the inauguration, Rano serves as acting Governor of Banten since May. 13, 2014, following the decision from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to name Ratu Atut as a graft suspect.

Born in Oct. 8, 1960, Rano Karno is a senior actor turned into politician. He joined PDI-P since 2007.

Rano Karno along with Ratu Atut won the 2011 Banten gubernatorial election. At that time, Rano entered the race as Ratu Atut’s running mate. The pair was endorsed by a big coalition of political parties led by Golkar and PDI-P. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
