JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Government of Indonesia, through energy and mineral resources (ESDM) ministry, opts to extend mining operation contract for PT Freeport Indonesia, instead of being awarded to state companies.
Said Didu, special staff of ESDM Ministry, said state companies have capacity to take over Freeport assets after contract expored in 2021, but the government prefers to create the conducive investment climate and to give the business certainty to Freeport.
Freeport is now investing on the underground and smelter.
