JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan finally show up at the office of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday (Nov. 11), to be questioned as witness related the forest area conversion bribery scandal implicating Riau Governor and Golkar Party key leader Annas Maamun.
Zulkifli, politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN), arrived at the KPK’s office this morning and confirmed that he will testify as witness for Annas Maamun, one of suspects in the case.
As reported earlier, KPK initially scheduled to examine Zulkifli on Monday, but he failed to answer the summon due to his hectic schedule as the MPR Speaker.
KPK’s Head of News & Information Priharsa Nugraha earlier explained that KPK will question Zulkilfi in his capacity as former Minister of Forestry.
This is the second examination for Zulkifli. Back in June 2014, KPK questioned Zulkifli in another forest area conversion bribery scandal of PT Bukit Jonggol Asri (BJA) implicating Bogor Regent Rachmat Yasin and Sentul City Boss Kwee Cahyadi Kumala aka Swie Teng.
Annas Maamun along with a businessman Gulat Medali Emas Manurung were caught red handed by KPK’s investigators in a bribery transaction in Cibubur, East Jakarta. KPK has also seized Rp500 million and Sin$156,000 cash money from the transaction. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
