KARAWANG (Yosefardi) – PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID) had Wednesday (Feb 12) inaugurated its new factory located in Karawang, West Java, with investment cost of Rp1.2 trillion, Bisnis.com reported.
MInister of industry, MS Hidayat also attended the ceremony. Sharp’s new factory in Karawang is said to be the largestfactory in the world for household products.
This new factory is expected to absorb 1,200-1,500 employees until 2015, to strenthen Sharp’s position in Indonesia.
Sharp’s local-fit products are such as AC Sayonara Panas, TV Alexander IIOTO, and Samurai refrigerator.
Sharp expects demand over washing machine and refrigerator will grow 15-20% per year. Currently, Sharp produces 220,00 units of refrigerator per month and 140,000 units of washing machine.
