JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Nymex crude oil surged 2.36% to US$103.63 per barrel Friday (July 5th) in New York, while gold plummeted 2.36% to US$1222 per ounce.

Shares of oil and gas giants, however, gained only slightly in New York. ExxonMovil and Chevron advanced 0.97% and 1.2% respectively, while BP slipped 0.16% in London. Earlier in Jakarta, PGN lost 3.48%, while Energi Mega Persada slipped 0.91%.

Gold producers lost ground, led by Newmont Mining, which lost 4.27% in New York. Freeport McMoRan also declined further by 1.23%.

Barrick Gold Corp collapsed 6.33% in New York, cutting further its market capitalization to US$13.78 billion only.
