JAKARTA (Indonesia Today) – Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional (BTPN) might be granted approval for the acquisition of domestic bank later this year, Bisnis Indonesia reported this morning.

Edy Setiadi, director of Sharia Banking Department of Bank Indonesia, said the central bank sees no problem for BTPN to establish sharia bank.

Edy said the country needs more sharia banks to achieve the target of 15-20% of sharia banks by 2020.
