JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – A few days ahead of the closing of registration period, the selection committee of the 2015-2019 Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leadership candidates have received 139 applicants, including eight women.

Harkristuti Harkrisnowo, one of members of the selection committee, deplored with the fact that so far there only eight women registered to the selection committee.

The law professor from the University Indonesia (UI) said the selection committee have tried to encourage women to register as KPK leader
candidates to the committee in the past few weeks.

The registration period of the KPK leadership candidates itself, as scheduled, will be closed on June 24, 2015.

Later, the selection committee will disclose the candidates to public before selecting and submitting potential candidates to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. President Jokowi, meanwhile, will later choose eight potential candidates to be submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
