JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan beat incumbent Hatta Rajasa for becoming the new Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) for the period of 2015-2020.
In a voting conducted last night (March 1), Zulkifli won the chairmanship election with secured 292 votes or just 6 votes above Hatta, who has collected 286 votes. Four other votes, meanwhile, were abstain.
The results brought Zulkifli to replace Hatta as the fourth Chairman of PAN in the party’s history.
The PAN chairmanship congress itself is scheduled to be closed today. The congress has been held in Westin Hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali, since Feb. 28. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
