SYDNEY (Yosefardi) – ASX-listed Woodside Petroleum Ltd has signed a sales and purchase agreement with Japanese Chubu Electric Co Inc for the supply of up to around 1.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) over a three-year period commencing in April 2014.
Woodside would source the LNG from its Pluto LNG project, but other terms of the agreement are commercial-in-confidence.
“The agreement demonstrates the importance of Pluto LNG volumes in meeting growing regional demand for natural gas and also Woodside’s increasingly diverse LNG purchasing, sales, and shipping agreements,” Peter Coleman, Woodside CEO, said this morning.
Woodside is also a partner in the development of Sunrise gas project in the Timor Gap, Timor Leste.
