JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State construction firm PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) will approach state port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II to handle Sorong port project in West Papua.

WIKA is keen to be contractor for the project as well as investor for that project which costs US$3 trillion. Pelindo II plans to build Sorong port project in 2016 to 2019 period. The port will have capacity of 15 million tons.

WIKA has previously signed cooperation agreement with Pelindo I to handle container port management in Batu Ampar port (Batam) and Pelintung port (Dumai).

WIKA booked new contracts of Rp14 trillion as of July 2015, representing 44.24% of this year target of Rp31.64 trillion.
