JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Wahiduddin Adams and Aswanto have been sworn in as new justices of the Constitutonal Court on Friday (March 21), replacing Akil Mochtar and Harjono.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) led the inauguration ceremony held at the State Palace.
The constitutional court holds a strategic role in handling post-election disputes.
Wahiduddin Adams is former Director General for Legislation at the Ministry of Law & Human Rights. He has entered his mandatory retirement. Aswanto, meanwhile, is the Dean of the Hasanuddin University’s School of Law.
However, both Wahiduddin and Aswanto got critics over their potential conflict of interests and allegation of nepotism. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
