JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The House of Representatives (DPR) has Thursday appointed Wahiduddin Adams and Aswanto as new Justices at the Constitutional Court replacing Akil Mochtar and Harjono.

Wahiduddin Adams and Aswanto earlier won the majority votes among four candidates of justices in a voting conducted by the House’s Commission III on Wednesday (March 5). Two losing candidates are Atip Latipulhayat and Ni’matul Huda.

Wahiduddin Adams is former Director General for Legislation at the Ministry of Law & Human Rights. He has entered his mandatory retirement.

Aswanto, meanwhile, is the Dean of the Hasanuddin University’s School of Law.

However, both Adams and Aswanto got critics over their potential conflict of interests and allegation of nepotism. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
