JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Chief of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso reveals the police will not summon VP Jusuf Kalla for questioning related to investigation into corruption case surrounding the supply of condensate to PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI).

The three-star police general, as quoted by Kompas.com on Friday (June 26), said it’s unnecessary to examine VP Kalla as the police finds out the policy to supply condensate to TPPI as right. “But there’s irregularities in the implementation,” Budi said.

Previously, Kalla’s role in the government’s decision to supply condensate to TPPI was mentioned during the questioning session of former Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani and former Chief of BPMigas Raden Priyono.

The Police has named three suspects in this case. They are Djoko Harsono (former BPMigas’s Deputy Finance & Marketing), Raden Priyono, and Honggo Wendratmo (founder of TPPI). The Police is expected to examine Honggo in Singapore, where the suspect reportedly takes medical treatment.

The state losses, based on calculation from the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP), is estimated to be around US$139 million from this case. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
