JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Popular Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama has emerged as potential running mate of his boss Prabowo Subianto for the July’s presidential race.
Fadli Zon, Deputy Chairman of Gerindra, confirmed that his party is considering Ahok, also Gerindra politician, as one of potential running mate for Prabowo.
However Fadli also mentioned other names such as Hatta Rajasa (Coordinating Minister for Economy), Ahmad Heryawan (West Java Governor and PKS politician), Mahfud MD (former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court and former PKB politician), and Tri Rismaharini (Mayor of Surabaya and PDI-P politician).
Hatta is also PAN’s Chairman and father-in-law of President SBY’s youngest son.
As reported earlier, various surveys from polling agencies have placed Prabowo in the top list of potential presidential candidates.
According to the surveys, the electability of the retired Army general placed the second position, behind his strongest competitor, Jakarta Governor and PDI-P politician Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
