JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – US Energy Department has launched Sustainable Energy for Remote Indonesia Grids (SERIG) project worth US$ 1,2 million, equivalent Rp12 billion for the development of renewable energy in Indonesia.
Indonesia has vast renewable energy resources and private sectors will be attracted to invest as the investment on this sector is promising such a profit or return.
Currently many regions in Indonesia depend on electricity supplied by diesel power plants (PLTD), more costly than the renewable energy.
Within next 2 months, the energy laboratory of US Energy Department will study options to create a cost-efficient renewable energy sources for people in remote areas.
