JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) stated that TVOne, a television station controlled by Bakrie Group, has violated the ethics code of press in its report about PDI-P’s support on communism.
KPI Deputy Chairman Idy Muzayyad told Kompas.com on Friday (July 4) that TVOne has violated the ethics code of press as its report did not cover both sides.
In a related progress, member of the Press Council Nezar Patria said the Press Council has summoned both TVOne and PDI-P to give explanation this afternoon.
Nezar said TVOne’s report has a tendency to violating the ethics code of press and the Press Law, especially Article 6.
As reported earlier, TVOne’s report mentioned about the closeness of PDI-P with the Communist Party of China (CPC).
TVOne also broadcasted a talkshow where Maj. Gen. (ret) Prijanto (former Territorial Assistant of the Army’s Chiefof Staff and former Jakarta Vice Governor) mentioned about the communist threat spreaded by PDI-P.
Unfortunately, both report and talkshow did not accomodate PDI-P to make a counter statement. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
