PROBOLINGGO (Yosefardi) – A collision between heavy truck and light-truck kills 18 passengers of the light-truck in Probolinggo regency, East Java province Saturday (December 29) evening.
The light-truck (pick-up)—a Mitsubishi T 120 SS, loaded with 31 passengers, was hit by a heavy-loaded truck from the opposite side when the pick-up car driver was trying to drive past three cars in front (one truck, a Daihatsu Xenia passenger car, and a bus).
“Our car was on a high speed to pass three other cars,” said Fatimah, one of the survived passenger, told Detik.com today.
The group was on their way to pay homage to a relative in Pasuruan Regency, East Java. The heavy truck, meanwhile, was on his way from the east (Pasuruan) to Probolinggo.
Police immediately named Slamet, driver of the deadly pick-up truck, suspect in the crash, but has on Sunday stopped the case because Slamet died in the local hospital.
