JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) Tbk (TLKM), through unit PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International, has early this month set up Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Telin Malaysia).
Arief Yahya, Telkom’s president director, said more than 3 million Indonesian people working in Malaysia, a potential target market for Telin Malaysia.
Currently penetration of cellular phone market in Malaysia reaches 123%, with 3 biggest operators; Maxis (37% market share), Celcom (33%), and DiGi (27%).
Arief said business portfolios of Telin Malaysia include mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), enterprise service, and wholesale service.
Telkom booked net profit of Rp10.13 trillion in first half of this year, grew by 12.7% from Rp8.99 trillion in the same period of last year. While revenues increased 9.4% to Rp40.16 trillion from previous Rp36.72 trillion.
TLKM gained 0.86% to Rp11,750 per share this morning.
