JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Air Vice Marshal FH Bambang Soelistyo, revealed on Wednesday (Jan. 7) that the tail of crashed AirAsia QZ8501 plane has been found.

In the press briefing, Soelistyo said the joint search team has found the AirAsia QZ8501’s tail at around 5:00 of local time in the crashed location in Karimata Straits, off south Kalimantan.

Soelistyo said the joint team now continues its search to found the black box of the crashed plane in the location where the tail was found.

The joint search and evacuation team has also so far evacuated 40 bodies.

AirAsia QZ8501 was crashed on Dec. 28, 2014, in the Karimata Strait, believed to have killed 162 passengers and crew members. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
