JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) predicts the loan or financing of syariah banks to only grow by 10% this year, lower than initial target of 13-14% set on the business plan.

In slowing financing and increasing non performing loan (NPL) occured during the first half of this year. Three syariah banks have NPL gross of above 5%.

Syariah banks’ loan/financing totaled Rp187.88 trillion in first half of this year, grew by 9.72% from Rp171.23 trillion in the same period of last year.

While the return on assets declined to 1.09% from previous 2.01% and return on equity fell to 12.58% from earlier 19.33%.
