JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Former Commissioner of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Busyro Muqoddas has urged the Supreme Court (MA) to soon taking necessary steps to stop graft suspects filing a pre-trial petition against KPK.
Busyro reminded that it is not just KPK expected to overhelm on facing pre-trial petition from graft suspects. But Busyro believed that similar situation will be also faced by the National Police and the Attorney General Office (AGO).
Therefore, Busyro urged the Supreme Court to release a circulation letter regarding the restriction of a pre-trial petition can be handle by the court.
Similar to Busyro, anti-corruption activists earlier also mounted pressures to the Supreme Court.
As reported earlier, some graft suspects have filed a pre-trial petition to challenge KPK’s decision that naming them as suspects. They are Suryadharma Ali, Sutan Bhatoegana Siregar, and Hadi Poernomo.
All of those graft suspects filed a pre-trial petition against KPK’s decision following the verdict from Sarpin Rizaldi, a Judge at the South Jakarta District Court, that ruled KPK’s decision to name Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as a graft suspect is baseless and illegitimate. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
