JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The South Jakarta District Court is expected on Monday (Feb. 9) to hold a second trial over pre-trial lawsuit filed by Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The pre-trial lawsuit is led by Sarpin Rizaldi as the presiding judge. Budi Gunawan asked the court to cancel KPK’s decision on naming him as a graft suspect.
KPK’s Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto recently stated that KPK’s representative will attend the Monday’s trial. Bambang, however, asked the court to reject Budi Gunawan’s pre-trial lawsuit.
Last week, the court has decided to postpone the pre-trial following the absence of KPK’s representative in the trial.
KPK named Budi Gunawan as graft suspect related to suspected transactions found in his bank accounts. KPK has blocked Budi
Gunawan’s bank accounts and also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi altogether with his son, Muhammad Herviano Widyatama, from overseas travel.
KPK charged Budi with Article 12 letter a or b, Article 5 Paragraph 2, and Article 11 or 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
